MOE VEHICLE IMPOUNDED - It’s been discovered a Chevy Silverado, registered to Premier Scott Moe was impounded in British Columbia this week and police say the driver was impaired. It’s clear based on the age of the driver that the person impaired is NOT Premier Moe. However, speculation is going to run rampant and you can bet those with extra left wing political ideologies will turn the heat up to 10 on him and try to make it out that he and he alone is responsible for this. Of course he’s not. But, I’ll be more than content to sit on the sidelines and watch whatever attacks come his way. Moe spent the better part of six months going after the people of this province and coerced them to get vaccinated. He likes to call it giving people a choice. I call it force. You decide based on this quote from August 30th: “It’s going to be increasingly more uncomfortable for you in Saskatchewan to make the choice to not be vaccinated.” Splitting hairs here. Sure, it’s still a choice. But, it’s one that is heavily weighted in his favor to get you to do as he commands when really the focus all along should have been on vaccine supply rather than vaccine uptake. Once upon a time when Canada was a free country, the onus would be on the individual to decide what’s best for him/her. That was taken away two years ago and I will never forgive these politicians for it. So when the attacks on Moe come out, I guess my solution to this would be that Moe should not have ‘chosen’ to register a vehicle under his name when he can’t control what the person driving it will do. We know what happens to people who make ‘wrong’ choices. Life becomes ‘increasingly more uncomfortable’. Hey, his words. Not mine.
FURTHER MOE - We don’t know who it was that was behind the wheel of this vehicle. Hopefully it wasn’t a family member. I’d like to think lessons learned from a previous tragic incident would be enough to convince others within his close circle to not even take the chance.
NDP GOOD POINT - A few years ago when the price of oil crashed, the Saskatchewan government used that as an excuse for a messy financial situation which resulted in a budget that saw price increases for everyday citizens, such as an additional point on the PST. I believe the government recalculated their budget based on a $50US barrel of oil, however oil is now priced at $120US so it’s fair to ask what they are doing with the excess money. NDP finance critic Trent Wotherspoon says, “We are anticipating large increases to provincial revenue from our natural resource sectors but those increased revenues have not made it down to working families just trying to make ends meet at the end of the month.” Premier Moe admits there is extra money but the province is in so much debt (this would be the SaskParty’s fault) the government isn’t able to give us any of our money back. He also thinks it would be best served to put it into government savings. For what it’s worth, Alberta is knocking off 13 cents a litre on gas at the pump as of April 1st by simply not collecting the provincial sales tax portion. They are also introducing a $150 electricity rebate. Saskatchewan has decided to give you $100 for every vehicle registered under your name. People who can’t afford vehicles won’t get anything and you can argue since they don’t need to buy gas for vehicles they don’t have, they shouldn’t get the $100 but cost of living for those folks has gone up on all other necessities because of the price of fuel and I’d submit it’s those people who need rebates and savings more than anyone else and they aren’t getting anything.
GRANTS IN LIEU - Now also seems to be a good time to remind people about grants in lieu. That was a program that saw the provincial government pay royalties to municipalities for revenue generated through the use of power. In the 1960s, SaskPower amalgamated electrical distribution systems. Agreements were entered into for the Crown Corporations to provide payments to compensate for lost revenue or income that they would have had with their own electrical or natural gas distribution systems. These lifetime contracts were simply canceled about five years ago and the government tried to confuse people by calling it ‘revenue sharing’ with the cities and that it was simply a formula that needed some rejigging. In Yorkton’s case this is a big number, well over $1.5-million a year in losses. The City could have fought it but the Province passed legislation that prevents municipalities from suing them. It’s almost like they stole a page from Trudeau’s book except the Saskatchewan Government did it before Trudeau ever did.
MORE TAX INCREASES - So the government is getting more money, but they’ve spent like drunken sailors to fight Covid (I’ll only give the example of building empty field hospitals they never intended to use but had them ‘ready’ just to ease some public fears) and they are very likely to download more onto municipalities (some of which they’ve already stolen money from through broken contracts). Just remember this when your City taxes go up again. Some of the blame can go to City Council for sure but a big chunk should be directed at the Province.
TRUDEAU WAR - Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his supporters insist the trip made by him and his entourage to Europe to virtue signal over the war in Ukraine was not a photo op situation despite the fact Canada’s Chairman has now released a professional video showing how effective he was over there. These are not clips taken by Chrystia Freeland’s cell phone. It’s very evident that a professional crew accompanied them. I can’t even imagine the costs. Those few of us who care would cringe. The rest of us who are apathetic about what happens to this degenerating country won’t even notice.
NO MORE BLAME - I don’t blame Trudeau anymore. I blame those who continually vote for his Party. The evidence is right there in plain sight for all to see. This man is another sort of evil with his freezing of bank accounts and demonization of anyone who disagrees with him. I recognize there are still millions of Canadians who have no problem with any of it and to that I say - YOU are the problem.
BE KIND - I see all sorts of messages and statements from people obsessed with wearing their mask saying to please be kind to those wishing to wear masks even though there is no longer a mask mandate. I’m fine with that myself, but all three Saskatchewan media outlets descended on Yorkton to try and get me fired from my job in September 2020 when I offered this exact same opinion. Add it to the hypocrisy list.
Excellent again! We will never be free again until the people rid the planet of the corrupt political party system and their elitist ideals. Thanks Mike
